Amethyst is a beautiful stone that has been used for centuries to calm the mind, relieve stress, and help with sleep. It is also said to bring protection from negative energy.

The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek word "amethustos," which means "not drunk." It was believed by ancient Greeks that drinking wine while wearing an amethyst would prevent drunkenness. This has never been my experience, but who knows?
